Samantha decided she wanted to be a teacher for Halloween. So I got to work on her accessories. She did the clothing and I made this clip board for her. Her friend didn't know what to be so we made her a graduate of Samantha's class. They had a blast at the party

I first covered this old clipboard with some paper. I found this cute apple ornament at the restore. Tacked on a ruler and a pencil. Added some words and it was done.

Fall Table Runners

I needed something for Fall for my dinning room table and coffee table. I had some burlap from my daughters birthday party decorations.

I cut the burlap to the right size for both tables. I also added some modge podge to the edges, so they would not fray.

Next I used painters tape and taped off a section

Made a stencil with my cricut

I was not trying to make it even and exact, just layed the tape out to make a border.

Completed stencil

Then I simply painted the border with some acrylic paint and let it dry. Then removed the tape.

It's not perfect, but it will do. Quick and Simple

Candy Corn

Hi Everyone (by that I mean Sallie and maybe Michele) lol

Last week I posted HERE about a few thrift store finds. I thought I would share with you a little something I made from 50 cents an old fish bowl and a bag of candy corn.

I started with this little thing. a 50 cent candle holder
I liked the colors so much that all I did was clean it up a little

I put a little E-6000 glue on the base and attached an old fish bowl that had under the sink.
It had a green tint to it and matched perfect.

Filled it with my favorite Halloween Candy
That's it, the most time it took was waiting for the glue to dry.
48 hours for the best results

Before plain and simple

I cut out some triangles and letters using my cricut

attached the letters to the triangles

adhere the letters using my xyron and inked the edges and then I used 2 sided tape and attached the letters to some thin brown ribbon and tied the banner to the branches of my wreath

How do you line things up when you cricut the contact paper? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm scared the letters are going to stick to each other and be all cattiwompus when I put them on whatever it is I'm putting them on. Also, where do you get white (and other solid colors) contact paper?

It's My Two Year Creative Anniversary

I still need to find just the right lights to go inside. But here it is with the words and stars.

I really like how it turned out. Now if I can just find some lights

There are just 2 more days till my Blogoversary! Hard to believe I have had this blog 2 years. Here is my first post ever!

So for 2 years I have been keeping up with two blogs, this one and a personal blog, but with my kids growing up and lots going on I may stop posting to my personal blog. I enjoy posting to this one now and then. I know I have not been doing my best to keep projects posted, but with the weather cooling off I hope to start posting more frequently.
Anyway, I still haven't decided what to give away, but check back Friday to find out!

Coasting

I have been at my moms cleaning the last couple of days so I will have a few more projects to share. This is a quick 15 minute project anyone can do. Didn't take a before picture so here is the coaster with the Mod Podge already applied.

This is suppose to be the before picture, so pretend that it has no Mod Podge on it! Isn't it ugly?


Next pick out some paper. I chose Bella Blvd. -Family Dynamix that I recently purchased from A Cherry on Top, put the coaster down on it and traced around. Cut and sanded the edges. (sorry no picture)


Mod Podged it down and let it dry

No project is completed without a little ink. I used Tim Holtz Antique Linen. Then I sealed it with some clear acrylic sealer, because I am using it near water and did not want it to get messed up.

Giving me lip

For Sam's birthday this past June I thought it would be fun to have a photo booth. I had seen this great free printable place on Today's Creative Blog and knew I had to print and make these lips and stashes they are from AMY she is full of great ideas. These were super easy, I just printed out the lips, cut them out and taped them to a wooden stick. I purchased a package of bamboo sticks from walmart in the kitchen section for about .89 cents. Super fast and super simple Here are a few pictures.

Wedding Decor

A little cricut magic

This is the one that was on the Bride and Groom table

Since I have not been crafting much these days I thought I would share some more wedding decorations I made last month. My sister was pretty sure of what she wanted so once we got the general overall theme down it was pretty simple from there. She decided to go with a beach theme, since they were getting married at a marina. The only drawback we had were the walls in the restaurant of the reception area. They where a hideous green color, but since there was no time to paint LOL, we did the best we could. The owner of the restaurant rented the table clothes for us for $2.00 a piece, so if you have to have linens that is a good tip to remember. I actually ended up getting them for free because the guy was Very late (another story for another post) and the linens were not white as ordered. So with the restaurant secured and ideas in our heads we first checked the thrift stores and quickly scored plenty of small glass containers. The dollar store provided the hurricanes. Some sand, shells and floating candles and we were set on go. We quickly discovered that the table was lacking some color. Because the service was so casual and they really didn't have a color scheme it wasn't hard to pick a color to pull everything together. We decided on this pretty blue 6" wide ribbon at Michael's, with a 50% off coupon we scored it for $5.oo. The floating candles were the most expensive thing we had to buy. We totaled it all up and we spent about $60.00 on everything.

The picture are not very good, I barely made it to the wedding on time so I didn't get to take pictures before hand. So I had to borrow these.

You've Got Mail

My sister got married a couple weeks ago and I was the reception decorator. It was very casual and was held at a local restaurant. I needed something for wedding guests to put cards in and instead of doing the usual basket with a bow I started searching the Internet and WOW there are a lot of great ideas out there.

Before

I decided on this because I needed a gift, but was really stuck on what to get so this was my wedding gift/reception decoration. I really like how it turned out. I bought a simple mail box and used my contact paper and my hand dandy cricut machine.

I told them to remove the est. 2011 before hanging at the house, it may confuse the mailman.

The B is for Buck and the C for Carol and the S is Schwartz

I love how it turned out. I added a heart on the flag for whimsy and a bow just to fancy it a little.

Sorry it took so long to post, either blogger or my computer would not behave.

The whole table set up, everything was served on some old metal speckled dishes I have had forever and baskets on top of a piece of burlap and a checked table cloth.

This was my favorite. A mini smores station. I actually used a pod warmer for my chocolate, then you could take the pretzel with the marshmallow on it and dip it in your favorite toppings. (graham cracker crumbs, sprinkles, chocolate) Loved it!

Camping Birthday Part 2

On to part 2 of the Birthday Decor.... I made a banner for the fireplace. I tried to do something simple so I made a clotheline banner It says incase you can't read it. Happ Birthday Samantha. I find it very difficult to take a good picture of banners. So anyway here is the Fireplace set up for the Big "11" Birthday Party.

Camping Birthday ~ Outside Decor

My daughter turned Eleven this past weekend and we had a ball planning her "Camp Samantha" Birthday themed party over the next week I will try and share all that we did to make this party fun!

First up the Camp Site

We have sections in our yard, The front as you go in, then there is the pond and then the front yard. This is what guests were greeted with upon entering the driveway. The sign says Welcome to Camp Samantha and behind it is a small camp site. I made the sign with my cricut and simply glued it to some orange and brown paper and then stuck that to a piece of cardboard for stability and then Mitch attached it to a stake and I hammered it in the ground. For the tents I took poster board from the $ store, punch holes about 3 inches in and 2 inches from the top and tied it with some string. Propped them up in the yard and staked down the sides so they would not blow over. Then I built a little fire with some spare wood and Viola! Very cute Camp Site for about $7.00! Next up will be the Fireplace Decorations!

Graduation Banner

I made this Graduation banner for Mark, we are having a party for him next Saturday so I thought It would be nice to decorate a little. All I used was some ribbon that came in the grab bag from CHKD.(I am sure getting my $3 worth out of that purchase) folded and ironed it in half. Cut out some triangles with 2 inch tops, folded those over to create a sort of hook to attach to the ribbon. Cut the letters I wanted out of my handy dandy contact paper applied them to the triangles, hung and done!

It's a blank wine holder

This is a month that I have dreaded for a while. My son Graduates from High School and I am not sure what's going on with me, but when I talk about it...I cry..I know stupid Huh! He is even staying in town and getting his basics a PDCC. Says he cannot leave his mommy. I Love it! I think it is the fact that someone is growing up and someone else is growing Older! EEKK! So I have a lot on my mind and activities this month so I will share a small project I made Monday for the Grad party. Mom came over and brought this old thing she has had forever.

I covered it with paper and added a brad and some ribbon for the tassel. It will make a cute table decoration for his Grad party.

I am going to make something with the other part. I think it will make a cute diploma, so I will be sharing that soon.

A wreath of sorts

This is a wreath that Shell saw at CHA this year and posted on her blog. It was made using Canvas Corp Products.

My friend Shell has a store so she gets to attend this great event and she is kind enough to post all the great new things that the crafting community has coming up. So this is what just spoke to me. I loved it the minute I saw it an knew I had to make one in my own little way. While we where at the beach I started compiling all the things I would need and getting them ready. This wreath was made using Canvas Corp Products,since there prices are out of my budget range I decided to make mine from:

(4) 7 x7 canvas pictures from the $ store
(4) 3.5 x 3.5 Hanna Montana boxes with lids for .79 cents each in the clearance section of Michaels
(4) 3.5 x 3.5- .25 cent picture frames I found in the clearance section of the $ store
Gorilla Glue
Scrapbook paper
Modge Podge of course
Tim Holtz distress ink
Odds and ends I had on hand

It did not turn out how I wanted it to, but frankly after a month of messing with it I was over it and settled for this. The hardest part was attaching the different boxes. All in all I guess it's pretty cool.

I wanted to start early on some Graduation stuff for Mark and was not sure where to start. So I went to the Cricut message board and asked. Within 10 minutes I had my answer and a link to the coolest site for cricut. It's called My Cut Search. You simple type in what you are looking for and it pulls up all the Carts. with that on it! WOW! Bookmarking that one for sure! Just thought I would share that with ya!

I wanted to share two supper dupper quick crafts. Sam and I were at Walgreens I love the deals I find at Walgreens. First I knew they carried these shirts. The quality is nice and how can you complain for One Dollar and for a quick gift you cannot go wrong. So I grabbed on in pink. Samantha had a friend with a birthday so I wanted to make her something. Happy Birthday AJ! I used the stencils I found on clearance at Mike's for $2.49 Colorartz ~ Psychedelic Groove. and some Fabric paint.

While we were at the beach we had only 3 magazines and some old stamp catalogs for inspiration, don't know why, but none of us brought idea books! Judi and I even brought one of the same paper crafts mag! lol Anyway, this is a card I stole from one of the stamping cattys. I love the simplicity and strong message of the card.

I hand drew most of the card. The stamp did not come out very clear, but I love the message.

It says "Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves"

Art Project

I have recently made some changes to my bedroom. You can see the room redo on my personal blog Scrappin with friends, but I am sharing the art project here. It was a fairly quick project that anyone can do.

Materials:

(3) 9X12 Canvas
Black Paint
Paper of choice
Mod Podge
Total Cost: Less than $20

When I saw these I knew just the place for them

They were on sale for $3.99 each! SCORE

I painted the edges with regular old acrylic paint.

I for some reason did not take a picture of the papers I used for this project. Two of them are from Bo Bunny from the Back to Backs Line and the Live Love Laugh is from Canvas Home Basics. I cut some vinyl words out and Viola.

Everything finished and a smile on my face!

Cockadoodle Redo!

A while back I was a guest poster at The Scrap Shoppe and this is the project that I shared. Thought I would share it on my own blog.

Last week I really wanted a project to work on, so I headed to the local CHKD. In my search I found this not so cute cork board. It definitely needed a makeover.

I only payed $3.98

The board came with these cute rooster push pins, not sure what will become of them.

I sprayed the chicken in hopes of covering it as much as possible.

I spray painted the frame with some cheapy wal-mart paint to try and cover the green. For some reason it turned out with these odd reddish spots.

Then I painted it all over with this plaid pearly paint

And to give it a little more shimmer and shine I added a little glimmer mist.

I glued the small part back into the top

Samantha had gotten a really cute birthday invitation from a friend that had this peace sign on it, so we recycled it and I attached it with some glue to the middle of the top piece

I was hoping when I disassembled the bottom that it would have a thick piece of cork, but instead I found a thin piece with corrugated cardboard behind that. When I removed it, I damaged the cork a little. So I had to come up with a way to cover the cork.

I dug around in my donate bag and came up with this very cute summer top that sam had outgrown

The color of the paper we used in the top really looked great with this fabric color, . So I cut out the front panel of the shirt.

It had this really cute lace trim detail, so I kept that as a border for the bottom, just to give it some interesting detail.

I cut it down to size

I had an abundance of sparkly mod podge so I used that and covered the whole front of the cork board

I pressed the fabric down taking caution that it did not wrinkle in the corners

And I must have gooped it here, because it came through the material. I was hoping it would dry and not show, but no such luck.

I wanted to add some ribbon, but Samantha loved it the way it was.

I am very pleased with my $3.98 purchase.
I added some clear push pins and hung it in my daughters room.

While I was gone on my trip I made lots of things, this one was special, because it was for a special friend. We have become very close and she recently remodeled her home, which now includes a home school room. I have never seen a homeschooler like her, so much fun, so full of life all the time! So I wanted to make something special for her new room. So a while back when I purchased these pennant's, this is what I had in mind. I love how it turned out I just wish I had some darker yellow paint with me on my trip. Susan says this all the time, so of course she loved it. I am so sorry about this picture I am working on my picture taking and am currently working on a light box to take all my blog pictures in.

Cute little Clip Board

While we were at the beach, we visited the dollar store a couple of times, and I saw these little clip boards. I have a few projects with items from the $$ store so stay tuned for more.

I covered the front in some paper from My Minds Eye that I have had forever. It had a scalloped edge that I thought was an interesting touch, I added some green at the bottom. Punched out a circle of the design as an accent. I don't put too much on the front because then it's hard to use.

I blinged up the back with some green jewels I had on hand added a dimensional flower and the word Notes out of the paper and I was done!

Happy Monday!

I made so many things while I was gone that I will have plenty to share for a while. Here is one of the quickest things I did. We went thrift store store hopping at Nags Head, have you ever done that? Well it ain't nothing exciting, they have the same smelly crap we do. lol Moving on...I picked up a set of these coasters, they were brand new. I asked the guy how much for these, he says 50 cents! I say a piece? He says NO for all four! What!!?? Took them back to the cottage, picked out some paper, used a little modge podge and TaDa! A brand new set of coasters.

They weren't bad when I bought them.

Happy Monday everyone!I know my title says Sunday, but I had an issue with my pictures and didn't get them edited until this am. So on with the post. I received my box of goodness from Modpodgerocks yesterday. Thanks Amy I have already been playing with all the goodies.

I wanted to share what I had done with one of the pennants I showed you HERE a couple weeks ago that I got at the thrift store for mere 48 cents for two no less!!
As some of you know I will be leaving in exactly one week from today to spend a whole week with my mom and sisters. I am so excited, we call it a scrap weekend, but is merely an excuse to spend time with one another. LOL I cannot wait.
For some reason I always think these things require a title. So here is my title for this coming week.

Here is a close up. I cut the words with my cricut, then painted blue over them, added the circles before I removed all the letters, then added the ribbon to the end. I love how it turned out. Not bad for .48 cents!!!

Bieber Fever....

So we have a touch of Bieber Fever at my house. I took Samantha and her friend the first night of the JB 3D movie, and I must admit it was pretty good. My mom had made Samantha a Justin clock for Christmas, and I had this clock and decided to make one for Anya, since according to her she is going to marry him any day now. She is sure of it.

I had already disassembled it before I took the picture, but it is just a cheapy clock I picked up for around $5.

I cut out a piece of blue paper, Justin's favorite color of course. I used a stencil to put a background image on it and spritzed it with some blue smooch glitter spray.

It looks a little messy, but I knew I was going to be covering up most of it.

I used some stickles on the pattern, just to give it a little bling.

Finished and ready to hang!

I have been trying to do at least one page a month on my Christmas album, so this weekend I managed to produce this page. I did not get a chance to journal, as a matter of fact I hate journaling. Why? because I cannot stand my handwritting, but I like the way the layout came together. I love this picture of Mark as Joseph in the Christmas program at church that year. It's been a while...

So here I am at work blog hopping and such and I click on Craftaholics Annonymous and find this post where she has listed You know you are a Craftaholic when.....
Suddenly I realize that I resemble some of them. My favorite is you'd rather go shopping at a craft store than for clothes!
Case in point:

I went to CHKD last week and pick up a few things I am working on now. It's a great place to find some new and some used things that could be recycled and reused.

One of things that I purchased was this set of banners.They were half price .48 cents! They are in perfect condition, it's surprising what you can find.

I know what I want to use one of them for and will be working on that this weekend. Do you have any ideas on what to do with the other?

I made this cute valentines box for Samantha. I covered it in someheart covered papers, added the cute little girl on the front. Some leftover hearts from her class valentines and finished it off with a pink little bow on top.

I added this sweet Embellishment that I got from Missy Made It a few years ago. It added just the right touch!

Not bad for a plain old Maya Roads lunch box and a few touches!

Banner Project

No I am not trying to tell ya something! It's a banner in the making!

A friend of mine is having a baby soon. So I started this project last Saturday

Cut all the circles out with my cricuit and backed it with some cute polka dot paper. It was super fast.
I plan on inking it of course and adding something else, I am just not sure what yet!

So I didn't get picked as a contestant for American Crafter, but that's OK, I have a million ideas in my head on different projects I want to do, now if I could just find the time.

A while back I asked for opinions on my pending projects and my friend Shell had a suggestion for my Christmas album. So as she suggested I do a Christmas page on the 25th of every month. I managed to collect some of my pictures. I wanted to do an album of just Christmas. I had a hard time finding pictures. I could not find any from way back when, so I just started with the first Christmas we spent in our new house 8 years ago. I wanted to do two pages, but it has been so long since I scrapped that it took my hours just to compose this one page. I am really out of practice. Hopefully the others will go alot quicker.

Then as I was checking out the Fabulous new things at the CHA winter show I found this very cool wreath. I have moved it to the top of my list. I appears to be canvases covered in different things and embellished. I loved it and have been formulating my own version in my head so stay tuned............

Rolled Flowers

Here is the tutorial that I used to make mine. This is such a fun project and I have been wanting to try it. Now that I see how simple it is, I'm afraid I wont be able to stop myself.
Note: Sorry about the pictures, I could not find my camera so I used my cell.


Here is the finished flower. Hopefully the directions I give you plus the video will get you on your way to making your own rolled flowers.

This is an old t-shirt that doesn't fit Sam anymore, so I simply cut off the bottom hem. The wider and longer you cut the material the bigger your flower.

This is kinds of a strange center to use, but it is all I had., felt is what is recommended but I had no felt so I improvised. You can use anything. Paper, felt, just something to give you a base.

I knotted the end and glued it to the center

I rolled until I had the size I wanted and snipped off the excess and glued the end under to hide the end. I used glossy accents to glue as I went along. Then let it sit for about 10 minutes to dry completely.

I added a few embellishment and it's ready for a pin, or whatever I want to use it for.

Samantha wanted an impromptu clipboard done last night. I had to go strictly by her rules or I would have this thing girlied up. So I thought I would share it with ya'll. I used the new Cricut Cart. mom got me for Christmas (winter wonderland) Sam loves that it has the word peace. I hate to tell her that the peace means Peace on earth, not Peace Out Dude! LOL

So as I wrap up by recap for 2010 I hope that you all have enjoyed my creations this year and have found some inspiration of your own. I am not cucurrently working on anything new, but you never know when something might come up so keep checking back with me periodically.

I think this was my favorite birthday project, we ended up taking off the pictures, sam didn't want her friends to see her funny photos! I loved how this turned out a homemade stencil and some paint!

These were so much fun, they got cuter as we went along, because we learned what colors looked really good together.

I started this second blog as a way for my sister and I to share a project we were working on and to encourage and share what we had done with one another. It was a difficult project, because they did not post the coming pages ahead of time and we became discouraged and I am not sure about Judi, but I quit right because it became a chore instead of a project, so maybe as my New Years Resolution I should complete the project. So the girls and I made ornaments yesterday. And I must say it requires a lot of gluing and waiting two things I am not good at.

Picture doesn't show how pretty the red paper is, it has shiny reindeer. The back is the brown polka dots and I added a circle of green polka dots. I just kept layering and layering. Added some brown ribbon as a hanger and voila!

The girls thought it was hilarious when I dawned my Michael's apron and taught them like a real craft class. They picked the colors and of course they had to use Justin Beiber's favorite color on the second ones. I think they turned out pretty cute. Here are the ornaments I made as an example for the girls. I added a bunch of layers and I really like how they turned out. The fan part on one of the ornaments was where I tried to make my fan too big, so I hated to waste it and just added it to the bottom.

Ornament or Bow?

Because there are 3 more days till Christmas and because I have the next 4 days off I will be trying to entertain my daughter. So I have decided we will be making Pinwheel Ornaments. Hero Arts has a great tutorial video here, although they call it a bow I think it looks more like an ornament. It is not really rocket science I just love the look of these and thought we would make a few for our tree. Here is the Hero Arts Version and hopefully after breakfast we will get started on our own and I can post them later today!

Swift Gift #4

Happy Monday! I am in such a festive mood. Hubby and I knocked out almost all of our Christmas shopping and my favorite part wrapping comes next. But first I thought I would share another Swift Gift with you all.

This one I thought turned out so cute, I started with a plain inexpensive plastic tub from the $ store, and added a name to the front using my cricut and just plain old contact paper from walmart. I plan on filling it with some of my other Swift Gifts. Sorry no before pictures again.

Here is a close-up of the lettering. I used my white roll of contact paper to cut the name and applied it to the front of the container


The black circles are some of the vinyl that I also bought at the $ store from another project I'll be sharing later.

I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did. It was very quick and inexpensive. It can be used year round, add a beach towel and some lotion for a quick birthday gift. Or fill it with a friends favorite treats!

Swift Gift #3

This one is so swift that you may get whip lash!! LOL

Do you recognize the container on the left? You will if you use Parmesan cheese on your spaghetti. That's right it's an empty cheese container. Washed out and relieved of it's wrapper. Some of the supplies can be found HERE, except the container.

Covered the bottom section with the cutest 2 sided paper, and now that I look at it, I should have left more clear area so that the goodies could be seen. Oh Well! I like this paper because it is already distressed looking. It can be found at scrapgrlz for
only .20 cents a sheet!

Cut a circle and scored where necessary to open the top and added some ribbon.


Filled with Goodies. In this shot you can see the under side of the paper, very cute different colored dots!

A cute For You rub on is added to the top and your done. This will be part of another swift gift I will be sharing later.

Swift Gifts - Project #2

I am so excited to share this with you, because rarely do my paper projects turned out, don't know what it is, but I usually end up throwing them away. So while I was blog hopping, my feet landed over at the The Hybrid Chick. I didn't take many process picture, because I just knew I would hate it in the end.

Could not find egg shaped foam balls so I use round, which I found at the $ store (2) for $1 instead of about 4 dollars at wally world

Next I used a single sheet of random christmas paper I had and cut it into 1" X 1" squares while watching TV which made it go by quickly.
Then I folded down each corner on one side to make an or arrow shape. I started at the bottom of my foam ball to make sure I got the shape I wanted. Then I just stagared the pieces, gluing with the glue gun. The Hybrid Chick shows pins. Just make sure if you use the glue gun to keep it on the paper as much as possible. Low temp glue works best.

Swift Gifts

So I have decided to start a month long challenge for myself. I am calling it Swift Gifts, I hope to inspire myself to complete my already started gifts and complete some that I haven't. So today I am sharing my Holiday Subway Art. This technique has been all over the crafty blogs and I think it is so cool. Mine is the poor mans version.

I do not know why it came out pinkish in the photo

First step was to find cheaper vinyl, so after perusing the aisle of walmart I have found this giant roll of contact paper for a under $6. I can afford to make as many mistakes as it takes.

Then most sub art is done on a wood base and I thought foam core would work pretty well and I could cut it any size I needed but, where I live supplies are hard to come by and unless you want to drive an hour, you use what resources you have. So I found a piece of cardboard the exact size needed {just lucky} and painted it black.

Then I stickled the frame that I had from this project to add a little bling. Next I cut a few words in different fonts and sizes. The Peace and Believe are UL rub-on's that a friend had given me, it gave it just a little depth.
And lastly I added a piece of ribbon to the back for hanging. I still think it needs something around the edge, because I have it hung on a white wall, so I may add that later. I want to do another one that is just random and not holiday oriented. I did see one today that had a Christmas tree in the middle of it. I love that you can add any words or phrases or symbols that you like that are unique to you.

My Dry Erase Board

Deciding is the hardest part

I think the hardest thing about doing any project is deciding on what supplies to use. If I am making it for someone else I have no problem. But this was for me and I had the hardest time deciding what paper to use for my background. As I was sifting through my supplies I found all the great stuff I had won on Shells 50th post! It was all perfect and I had everything i needed to make this fabulous board. I simply removed the contents of the current frame, decided on what papers and embellishments to use, attached them to the cardboard back, inserted behind the glass. Project complete....yeah right, I took this thing back and fourth out of the frame to make adjustments so many times I think at one point I heard the Bird Sigh! I just wanted to make sure I was happy with the results. I have already picked out the papers to make the next one. Sallie has inspired me to make Christmas gifts.

Not long ago I posted a project that a friend of mine had made. I like to call her Creative Sallie HERE. Well she has sent me another one of her Very cute projects to share. I love to post her description of how it's made she has a way with words that make me laugh. This project is so cute, I am definitely making one for myself. So without further ado here is her very cute TO-DO Board.

Here are the directions according to Sallie.

You know I didn't take any pictures of the process! That's not how I roll. But this one is so easy I'm sure no one will care.

I had a 8 X 10 thrift store frame that I think I paid $0.50 for because I liked it, but I had no idea what I was going to do with it. Originally I thought I would paint it, but I liked the "old" look that it had and didn't want to have to try to fake that back after painting. Then on Tuesday I was just overwhelmed with all that needed to be done and didn't know where to start. So, I decided to make a list. I've seen this super-easy project on countless blogs. So, I decided to whip one up real quick.

I took the frame apart and cleaned the glass well. There was a spot of something that wouldn't come off, but I decided to consider it "character". I washed the wood part of the frame with soap and water. I wanted to be sure none of the patina was actually dirt.

While the frame was drying, I used the cardboard backing to cut my 12x12 scrapping paper down to the right size. I loved that I didn't need to measure, just trace the cardboard. Am I lazy or what? I decided on paper that had horizontal lines as part of the pattern thinking this would help me when I write on the board. It was tough to decide whether to make my frame horizontal or vertical. I decided vertical gave me more room to write. My list is usually long!

Before putting the frame back together, I tacked a hanger to the back. This was from a picture hanging pack that had been in a drawer for years - containing wire, brads, hooks, etc. I did use a ruler to find the middle of the frame for the hanger. That was the toughest part of the whole project!

Then I put the whole thing together - glass, paper, cardboard - and tapped the staples/stays back in place to hold it all tight. I had a dry erase marker from a pack of four that rarely gets used. I picked a spot on the kitchen wall to hang the board. I just put the marker on top so it's there when I need it. Done.

You can see in the picture (beside #2) the spot that didn't come off of the glass. It actually coordinates with the paper pretty well, but I might flip the glass so that the spot is nearer the bottom right. I haven't decided if it bothers me enough to change it yet.

Inking RIbbon the Hero Arts Way

I saw this card on the HERO ARTS BLOG and had to share it. I love the colors, and the techniques they used to make the ribbon any color you want, I just had to share. Who doesn't have white boring ribbon in there stash. Well now you now you can have any color ribbon you need! Happy Thursday!

Instructions:
1.Cut a piece of Snow layering paper to fit on the front of a Snow folded card.
2.Stamp the wreath with Snow chalk ink or VersaMark ink. Emboss with white embossing powder.
3.Ink over the piece using an applicator with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.
4.Stamp the greeting with black ink.
5.Attach the piece to the folded card.
6.Ink the ribbon with various Distress Inks and let dry completely.
7.Tie the ribbons into a bow and attach to the card.
8.Add Art Flower, twine and Earth Mixed Accents to finish the card.

DIY Bat Button Wreath - My Version

DIY Bat Button Wreath

A while back I saw this post at Modge Podge Rocks and wanted to make one of my own. It took me a while, but here is my version. Very Easy and super cute, I hung it on the door in my laundry room where everyone enters. Hopefully this week I will be sharing some other Halloween projects, unless this week turns out like last week. Busy-Tiring- and I end up exhausted by the weekend. I was really bad and did not take pictures as I went along. Obviously I painted my frame black. This was a picture I bought at the thrift store for like $1, took out the picture and painted the frame black.

Added my Trick Or Treat Tag

The DIY project looked really cute with the purple paper, but for some reason I had already committed myself to the gray back ground. All I did was draw a circle on the paper and lay out my buttons to get a feel of where I wanted them. I did have to cut the paper down some to get it to fit in the frame, so my advise is to make sure your wreath or paper is not to big before committing with glue. Then I glued the buttons in place added some MM Halloween goodies I had in my stash. I made the Trick or Treat tag by spritzing it with glimmer mist, and actually I got too much on so I turn it over to absorb some of the liquid onto a piece of paper someone had thrown away and I got the print on it, It didn't look bad so I left it, stamped my trick or treat image on it and backed it with an orange circle added it to my frame and Viola.

MAKE A WISH COME TRUE

Riley is 9 years old and has been fighting the cancer since she was 6. The medical team at East Carolina University did all possible and the Philpot family even sought radical gene therapy in a specialized clinic in Chicago. The results from that treatment were encouraging, but on follow-up the cancer had returned. Riley is in the hospital now and the doctors only give her a few weeks to live.

Her only request is to receive as many get well cards as possible when she goes home. Please take a minute to send Riley a card and make her one and only wish come true.

Mom and I have decided that it is about time, so we will be having a crop at the Bronco Club on August 21st. from 9 to whenever we get tired of talking, laughing and maybe getting something accomplished! It will be bring a dish to share and drink of choice. And the best part is that it is FREE and we get to all see each other again!
I am compiling a list so If you can make it let me know. Feel free to bring friends we have plenty of room.

Because I haven't been creative...

I recently returned from vacation and have not done anything crafty. Seems I did up all my projects before I left. I do have a vacation album to put together and should really get started on it. I have been blog hopping today as we are very very slow at work and came across what I believe to be my fantasy craft room. This Girl has got it going on. Visit her here on her blog. The counter space alone is fantastic. I can see myself working on a project and sam watching icarly on the TV above the computer.

I know it's not Christmas, but I am out of town and didn't want to leave you with nothing to look at, so I am sharing some past projects. These are magnetic Bazzill frames that I paid $1 a piece for. I quickly scooped up all she had and made personalized frames for family members this past Christmas.

The next project is a recycle project that I made with a drink holder from Burger King. I liked the shape of the 2 cup holder and knew I had to make something with it. So I got out my Christmas paper stash the same that I had used on the photo frames and the 25 cards everything was made from the same collection of papers and embellishments. The bottle is a starbucks coffee that I covered with a small strip of coordinating paper, cut a circle for the top and added some ribbon. Super easy, super fast!

Little Thank You's

One of my duties at work is entering time cards. When opening a new box there are blanks in the front of the box that I could not see throwing away, so I took them home and recently sat down and made up a quick set of thank yous. The embellishments I used were the ones that I had won from the Bo Bunny Blog awhile back. A few scraps of paper from my scrap stash.

Tile Necklaces

I recently bought on peachy chic a kit of three tiles necklaces. Here is what I have come up with. Please excuse the pictures I am having camera issues so these I took taken with my phone. These kits are great, they come with everything you need except imagination.You can put whatever you want on them. The possibilities are endless. I modge podged the back to seal them.

As most of you know we are going to Calif. soon and I cannot go empty handed so I have customized these necklaces for friends. The Nebraska necklace is for my friend Janna who we will be staying with for a couple days, she is from Kearney Nebraska. the back just says life.

The Friend necklace is for my old friend Mitzi. She and I have been friends a very long time. I have not seen her in about 25 years.

A while back I entered a contest on my friend Shells blog and I won! Not once but twice and my package came yesterday! Look at all the stuff she sent me. I think my favorite thing is the Melody Ross tote bag!

Creative Me

Well, It's not creative me it's creative sallie. She is a friend that doesn't think she is crafty, but she is wrong. She came up with this very cute dishwasher magnet out of things around the house. She has an adorable little girl that will appreciate her craftiness as she gets older. Love It! Thanks for sharing your cute quick craft with me Sallie. (see her directions below)

I used a magnet (business card size) that came off of the back of a magnetic memo pad that was used up. Covered it with scrapbooking paper from Michaels (using double stick tape). The letters are from a big pack of die cut letters that you just pop out - I'll NEVER use all of those letters! I ran them through the small Xyron thingy to make them into stickers. I didn't have much time to look around for embellishments, so I just stuck on a couple of stickers from a little pack I had that Sarah Grace hasn't found yet. :)

A while back my Fabulous friend Shell sent me a gift that sparked off more projects than I could possibly wrap my head around. She sent me these great products from plaid. We made t-shirts to go in the gift baskets for her party to go along with the peace theme. Also included the bottlecap necklaces I made.

So I thought I would share how they came out. They were so super simple that we made all 12 that morning. The dry really fast. Here they are in use the next morning....

Birthday Banner

I made this banner for Sam with a large scalloped circle bunch, my handy dandy cricuit - base camp cart. some of that fantastic peace ribbon material, some other misc ribbon I had on hand. She didn't care for the 10 on the bottom so I took it off, but it's cute just the same. Wishing my baby girl lots of love tomorrow!

More Birthday Projects

So as if I didn't have enough to do I thought I would make some cute Pinwheels for the party. Not sure what I am going to do with them, but here they are. This is such an easy project to sit and watch TV and do, yeah as if I have time to watch TV what I meant was in between all your other project as drying time is a pain. Anywho I use 2inch zebra paper cut into strips, fan folded and glued together. Some of these great fomies I found at walmart, glued on a stick I painted black and viola!

Mitch is very hard to buy anything for so with the help of my cricut and walmart we whipped up this cute candy container which happen to have held 4 bags of bite size snickers in case you were wondering. He loved it and half are gone in case you were wondering! LOL

Party Prep!

I have been working on Samantha's Birthday Party stuff and got a little crazy last night making things. I went walmart in search of god knows what. They didn't have peace sign ribbon so I found this great fabric.

I cut strips to make ties for the basket gifts and had some left over so I made a pillow with this Martha Stewart glue that I scored in the clearance basket for $2.50. I don't typically buy MS products because of them being so overpriced, but how could I pass up glue for $2.50? So anyway I don't sew, which could be in part because I don't own a sewing machine. So I used an old pillow, cut around the pillow shoved it inside and glued her up! I think it came out pretty cute. Hope it holds up!

Samantha's Necklace

I am making necklaces for all Sam's birthday guests, but wanted to make her something special. I used leftover zebra print paper from her invites and covered it with sparkle modge podge, cut a small S on my cricut, punched a hole with a nail, it doesn't take much, in fact I might be able to use my cropadile. I'll have to try it. Added a jump ring and a necklace cord and viola!

So Samantha brings home a clipboard from a friend at school it was neon pink and transparent kinda like the one shown here. yes, i forgot to take a before picture. It was so pink it almost glowed,she asks me if I would fix it for her friend Hillary, so here is what we accomplished in 30 minutes.

Teacher Gift

Made these quick teacher gifts last night and finished up the b-day invites. The saying on and the adorable apple on the side is courtesy of Janna Wilson she has a ton of free downloads. I wrapped a couple of giant candy bars with come cute paper printed off a few things from the site and wrapped it with a bow. All done!

Quick Gift

I had this frame sitting around and needed a quick gift so I popped out the glass added a piece of cork, glued some flowers on the corner and viola and instant message center. This can be done with any size frame, I recommend using a frame with an easel on the back. Happy Monday!
