Wild.....

Mark has a friend who was having a birthday and she was redoing her room and wanted a zebra print trash can.  mark looked in every store he could think of with no luck.
Mom to the rescue!  He went to walmart and for $5.50 bought a white trashcan, similar to the one above, because I did not take a picture before I started.    I love how it turned out, I wasn't sure about it at first I thought of covering it with paper or maybe even material, but i told mark to bring me home a trash can and some paint.  I even went on line and printed out a picture of some zebra print to give me a better idea of the design.
So the more I thought about it, I thought I could use vinyl!  So when I sat down I took a piece of my cricuit vinyl. I know, it was all I had.
I used my exacto knife and started cutting wavy strips, it helped that I cut a few at a time it made them mesh together well when i applied them.  I also angled them a bit and when it didn't look right, I either took it off and started again or cut it.  The lid was a little tricky, but once I got the hang of it, I was done in no time.  Now Samantha wants one!

To gift wrap it  I use a white trash bag and tied it with a bow, I figured after she opened it she could use the trash bag inside.  Check out Beyond the picket fence for Great ideas under $100.00
Happy Friday!

  7. I love that you used vinyl. I would've done paint too, but paint on plastic doesn't hold up too well. The vinyl is perfect!
